Sometimes, there are moments when you want to get disconnected from world and enjoy your me time BUT you don’t get a long break.. Does this happens with you too??? Worry not, your 2 days of weekend is enough to unwind at Galibore nature camp. We went for a one day staycation at Galibore nature camp, formerly known as Galibore fishing camp . Yeah! we wanted to try our hands in fishing but unfortunately its banned by the govt, that’s why they have striked it off from their name as well activity list.

About Galibore Nature camp:

Being a part of Jungle Lodges and resorts itself assures a place full of adventure , excellent hospitality and lots of “we time” in the lap of nature..yes! You won’t get disturbed by the non-existent mobile network or TV…time to stay away from the gadgets. It’s at a distance of around 110 kms from Bangalore and can be reached in 2-2 1/2 hours , thanks to the road construction work going on in kanakpura road but it will really make the roads safer to drive in future.

The Galibore Nature Camp lies deep in the deciduous forests on the banks of the River Cauvery is named after the windy hillock called Galibore that stands behind it, it lies truly isolated from what we call civilization. Surrounded by hills, where the wilderness takes on a deeper shade of green. An amazing wildlife experience, spotted deers, the endangered grizzled giant squirrel, marsh crocodiles, turtles and snakes await you at Galibore. Birdwatchers won’t leave disappointed either, with over 230 species of birds including the Fish eagles, green pigeons, kingfishers, Owls etc. (source-.

We reached there at around 12:30 pm and were greeted with a refreshing welcome drink . They detailed us about the list of activities available:

  3. Coracle Ride- 4:00 pm
  4. Barbecue- 6:00 pm
  5. Buffet Dinner- 8:00 pm
  6. Trekking (next morning)- 7:00 am

*they have a different activity chart for day visit only

So, after check-in , we got freshen up and went for lunch. The spread was really good and tasty, with a mix of North Indian and South Indian items. the best part is that they maintain the food standard and hygiene so well. After lunch, you can stroll in the huge campus or can indulge in some activities like cycling or rope climbing or you can just relax like me in the net swings. Yeah! we utilised that time for photo session.

At 4:00 clock, we had our tea and then we went for a coracle ride in the picturesque Kaveri river. The river side was really beautiful and the boatmen were well experienced. Still, it was adventurous for me to go through in coracle in a river full of crocodiles. Post Coracle ride, a barbecue was arranged in the river bank. And gosh! it was the best experience for me, to have some delicious food under the stars listening the sound of the river accompanied with various birds’ sound. The barbecue had chicken and other side dishes such as masala peanuts and pakodas. You can also buy the drinks from them and chill in the lap of nature away from the hustles. Overall, it was so soothing to dine under the stars, unbeatable even by the 5 star restaurants.

Then it was the time for dinner, which looked equally tempting but we were already full from the barbecue. One can enjoy a wildlife movie while having dinner in the dining hall. We slept by 10:00 pm as there was no TV and we had to get up early for trek , next day.

we opted for a riverside trek instead of Mountain trekking because of our kid and it was a great experience to bath in the flowing , clear river water. Post trekking, We got ready , took our breakfast , did some photoshoot and finally checked out for Bangalore.

Some points to Consider:

1.No network- Yes! its the perfect place to have your social media detox.

2.You need to travel through a Kuchcha road for almost 10 kms from the main Road and there’s a possibility that even you may miss the signboard.

3.One may find the pricing on higher side( approx 10,000 INR for a couple), considering the cottages.

4.No Tv, Music as it may disturb the wildlife.

Considering all the above points, it was a good way to relax if you don’t want to drive/ travel much still want to breath in the lap of nature .
